About Love Cashmere
THE LOVE CASHMERE STORY
Love Cashmere is a Scottish cashmere knitwear brand designed, crafted and finished in our own mill in Hawick, the historic home of fine cashmere. For over 35 years, we have been dedicated to the art of knitwear manufacturing, producing world-class cashmere for some of the world’s most respected designer brands.
Today, we bring that same expertise directly to our own collection, combining heritage skills, modern design and exceptional value. Every Love Cashmere garment is thoughtfully designed in-house, then carefully knitted and hand-finished by highly skilled craftsmen and women whose knowledge has been passed down through generations.
This continuity of skill, paired with advanced knitting technology, allows us to create beautifully refined cashmere with clarity, strength and exceptional softness, designed to last and improve with wear.
Our philosophy is simple: to offer authentic Scottish cashmere of uncompromising quality at an accessible luxury price. By designing, manufacturing and selling directly from our mill, we remove unnecessary mark-ups and deliver true cashmere luxury without compromise.
THE SOURCE OF OUR LUXURY CASHMERE
The Love Cashmere label represents the finest Scottish craftsmanship.
Our cashmere begins its journey far from Scotland, using ultra-fine fibres sourced from sustainably managed herds in Inner Mongolia, where Capra hircus goats endure winter temperatures of up to minus forty degrees Celsius. It is this harsh natural environment that produces the precious, ultra-soft undercoat that defines true cashmere.
To survive, the goats develop a dual coat consisting of a coarse outer guard hair and a fine, downy underlayer. We use only the finest fibre, the white, soft undercoat found primarily along the throat and belly. Remarkably rare, the yield is extremely small. The fibre from a single goat is enough to knit just one scarf, while around three goats are required to produce a sweater. Traditionally, cashmere is collected in spring by gently combing the goats as they naturally shed their winter coats. This practice is still widely used today alongside selective shearing.
Once collected, the fibre is dyed, carded and spun using Scotland’s famously soft water, a critical element in achieving the clarity, softness and durability for which Scottish cashmere is renowned. We work exclusively with the world’s most respected yarn spinners, including Cariaggi and Todd & Duncan, ensuring every piece begins with exceptional raw materials.
Celebrated worldwide, Scottish cashmere is valued not only for its unrivalled softness, but also for its strength, longevity and ability to retain its beauty over time. These qualities sit at the heart of every Love Cashmere piece.
Responsibly Sourced
Our cashmere is responsibly sourced from trusted suppliers who prioritise animal welfare, traceability and long-term land stewardship. The majority of the fibre used in our yarns is certified by the Sustainable Fibre Alliance (SFA), supporting responsible sourcing and improved livelihoods for herding communities.
All manufacturing is carried out in our Scottish mill using low-impact processes, careful water management and minimal waste. By producing in small batches and maintaining a short, transparent supply chain, we reduce unnecessary transport and ensure each piece reflects a considered, sustainable approach to luxury cashmere.
CASHMERE IS OUR CRAFT
Cashmere is not just what we do, it is our craft and our heritage. Scotland remains one of the world’s few true centres of excellence for luxury knitwear, and at Love Cashmere we are proud to carry that tradition forward, creating timeless designs intended to be worn, treasured and passed on.
Made in our Scottish mill using time-honoured techniques, every garment reflects generations of expertise, care and attention to detail.
Love Cashmere is created for those who value authentic craftsmanship, refined luxury and lasting quality, and who understand that true luxury is defined not by excess, but by substance.
